This painting was one of the bigger disappointments of my early career. It was commissioned as a cover for Inquest magazine back in 1999. Looking back on it, I have no idea how this idea was approved. Inquest was frequently featuring cute Pokemon cartoon characters on their cover. I didn't deviate much from the approved sketch with the exception of the bottom inch which needed to be filled in with something as there was originally a misunderstanding as to to the printed dimensions. I don't think that my line drawing was quite able to capture the extreme gore of the final painting. To make a short story shorter, It didn't end up being published. They didn't like it and neither did I. They were incredibly gracious in that they did pay me for it.
